Meme of the Week: Go Fish

Lars Walker from Brandywine Books tagged me with the Go Fish meme*, which goes like this:

  1. I have to answer the question he asked.
  2. I have to tag someone else with another question. The questions must be in the style of the queries used in the children’s “Go Fish” card game.

In this case, he asked me if I had any books by Walter Wangerin. Sadly, the answer is no (and not because there aren’t plenty to choose from). I’ve just never quite found the time. (As I said to my middle daughter the other day when we were wandering through a bookstore, “So many books…”) How does he compare to Frederick Buechner?

OK, now it’s my turn. Paulo, do you have any books by William Zinsser?

*I’m not entirely sure that meme is the best word for this phenomenon; it’s a bit too grandiose for something that’s little more than a parlor game or an icebreaker. What do you think?

Thanks for responding, Phil. Wangerin is less edgey than Beuchner, but arguably more profound.

Are you asking if meme is the right words of the blog-to-blog quizzes and questions we do or if it's the right word for my Go Fish question? I think the point of application is the imitation part. Who first used "meme" to describe these things anyway?

Ok. I see it was Richard Dawkins in his _Selfish Gene_ book.

I was referring to the general blog-to-blog game phenomenon, not this one specifically.
